Camden, NJ- On April 28th LAEDA in collaboration with Parkside Business and Community in Partnership (PBCIP) hosted an event at the Camden Historical Society to showcase all the exciting things happening in the Camden neighborhood. This event was hosted as an initiative under the The Parkside collaborative. The Parkside collaborative is a group of partners – Camden County Historical Society, NJ Conservation Foundation, LAEDA, HopeWorks, and PBCIP – coming together to transform and revitalize the Parkside neighborhood of Camden, NJ.

LAEDA Brings Small Business Financing Series to Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ— On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, the LAEDA’s Small Business Financing Series wrapped up at the Chelsea Pub & Inn in the Chelsea neighborhood of Atlantic City. LAEDA partnered with Chelsea EDC to provide business training and help administer the Small Business Capital Grant Program, which is designed support the growth and development of businesses in Atlantic City.

Back to the Classroom: EDTP Session 93 Begins

Camden, NJ- On Wednesday, April 13, 2022 LAEDA opened its' doors of their training room to welcome the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program Session 93. The students in the class have demonstrated their desire, willingness and ability to move their businesses forward in a meaningful way as a result of the 9-week intensive training course. This is the first time LAEDA has hosted an in-person session since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's good to be back!

That's a Wrap! Women's Business Academy Class Session 92 Comes to a Close

Camden, NJ- On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 LAEDA hosted the final class of its virtual Women’s Business Academy (Session 92). The 2022 Women’s Business Academy brought together 19 highly motivated entrepreneurs, representing a variety of industries including food service, party and event venue rental, photography, accounting and tax preparation, and auto detailing. Over the course of the nine-week program, participants received 72+ hours of training from industry professionals as well as business planning, business counseling, and continued business counseling.

Business Start-Up Seminar Recap: Food Trucking 101

Camden, NJ- On March 17, 2022 at 6 PM many aspiring entrepreneurs came together to learn about the important aspects of food trucking by attending Food Trucking 101. This course gave entrepreneurs a roadmap on how to navigate the start-up phase and learn best practices for aspiring operators. The class covered mobile food business models, matching the menu to the model, investment analysis, legal requirements, licenses needed, inspections that are to be done, fire/propane safety and food preparation regulations.

In the month of March during Women's History Month, LAEDA interviewed some motivating and inspirational women. We reached out to four of our female-owned businesses: (1) Kededra Holmes, owner of Lovely Hen LLC - We have everything you need to get started raising your pet chickens! Soon you will be the proud owner of an outstanding flock of Lovely Hens laying fresh eggs daily, (2) April Ward, Co-owner at Fruition Life Media- Our mission is to help bring closure and healing to those that are experiencing the unfortunate loss of a loved one by connecting families and friends through virtual memorial services streamed live or recorded to premiere all over the world and Co-owner at Creative Content OnDemand- We specialize in video production, digital photography, public relations, and social management. (3) Susan Adams, Owner of Susans Daycare- It is a gentle, loving, and experienced childcare. We are First Aid trained as well as a CPR and State certified business. We offer a smoke-free and pet-free environment with daily learning activities; as well as an outdoor play area. The Food program is available. We also accept vouchers from the NJ child care subsidy program. (4) Marcela Tapiero, Owner of Your DreamWall LLC- Your DreamWall offers vision board workshops to nonprofits, corporate teams, youth and adults both in-person and online, and provides custom-made Dreamboard kits and Dreamcards.

Turning Your Hobby Into a Business: Product & Development and Power of Marketing

LAEDA’s Turning Your Hobby Into a Business series consists of 6 seminars to gain the most benefit and to help entrepreneurs and or small business owners navigate the swerves and curves of the journey and transitioning from designing & creating for friends and family to producing for customers beyond their inner circle.
