LAEDA and Program Alumni Make Waves at the 14th Annual Haddon Avenue Street Festival

Camden, NJ- On Saturday, September 25th the LAEDA Women’s Business Center (WBC) attended the 14th annual Haddon Avenue Street Festival hosted by Parkside Business & Community in Partnership (PBCIP). The Haddon Avenue commercial corridor, between Kaighns Avenue and Mechanic Street, was lined with over 35 vendors offering not only shopping, food, and entertainment but also health and wellness screenings, presentations, and small business resources. There was even a section where families and children could enjoy games "life-sized" checkers, Connect 4, Jenga and a Pokemon tournament from Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) Alumni David Barnes of Prodigy Games.

Atlantic City, NJ – On September 30, 2022, the Governor’s Conference for Housing & Economic Development held its Governor’s Excellence in Housing and Economic Development Awards Presentation at the Harrah’s Resort & Casino. Nearly three hundred housing and economic development professionals from across New Jersey and the region gathered to celebrate the awardees.

LAEDA Celebrates National Black Business Month

In celebration of National Black Business Month, LAEDA joined approximately 30 other vendors at Curate Noir’s 2nd annual Black Business Expo held August 6-7th at the Moorestown Mall and August 20-21st at the Cherry Hill Mall. The expo, spearheaded by Curate Noir owners Nika and Alban Corbett, is a natural extension of their company’s mission. Curate Noir strives to highlight and bring awareness to Black and brown businesses by having their products get in front of more customers whether that’s lining the shelves of the store located in the Moorestown Mall or participating as a vendor in the business expo.

LAEDA's Session 93 of the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) Comes to a Close with New Beginnings

Camden, NJ – On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, LAEDA hosted the final class of its Entrepreneurship Development Training Program (EDTP) Spring 2022 Session 93. The class brought together 12 highly motivated entrepreneurs, representing a vast variety of industries including catering and food service, non-medical transportation, massage service, fashion boutique retail, tax preparation services, real estate investment and more. Over the course of the nine-week program, participants received 72 + hours of training from industry professionals as well as business planning education and business counseling.

LAEDA, CLHI Partner to Support Camden Vendors

(CLHI) partnered to provide a 6-part series business course were micro-entrepreneurs with product-based businesses learn about how to become a professional vendor and online retailer. The class was followed by a business pitch competition, in which winners received a vendor starter kit, fully equipped to prepare them for vending season.

Camden's Small Business Week Celebrated at the Camden Kroc Center

Jamila Powell, MBA, the Program Manager for the LAEDA Women's Business Center was one of the panelists Wells Fargo hosted to provide information on how to build capacity and elevate small businesses to the next level. The small business leaders in Camden were highlighted as well as the network of local organizations who support them every single day and on each and every step of their journey.
