We Have a Winner! Shared-Kitchen Survey Prize Awarded!

Congratulations to Robyne Moore-Taylor of Taylor’d Eatz Meal By Design for being our winner of the $50 Amazon Gift Card. Ms. Moore-Taylor was one of 52 individuals who completed the survey. “When I heard about the survey and the idea of a kitchen facility coming to South Jersey, I was so excited,” said Ms. Moore-Taylor. “Having a kitchen available nearby would be a game changer for me and my business.” Up until recently she has had to drive to kitchen facility in Trenton to prepare custom meals for her hungry client base.

LAEDA Launches New Cohort of Entrepreneurial Development Training Program –84th edition!

Camden, NJ- On Wednesday, April, 17th, LAEDA hosted yet another orientation for those embarking on the nine-week journey of entrepreneurship education, one-on-one counseling, and business planning to start or grow their businesses. The training lab at the corner of 5th and Market Streets (across from City Hall), was full of 15 businesses spanning a diverse body of industries.

Food Trucking 101 - The Drive Down the Path to Success Continues

Camden, NJ- As part of its continued commitment to providing high-quality educational programs that are relevant and impactful to the community in South Jersey, LAEDA hosted Food Trucking 101. The 8-week course was designed for those going into the mobile food industry to help them open and maintain the business. The program concluded on Thursday, April 25th with a celebration dinner and presentation of certificates to all the graduates. Alex LaBant, Assistant Program Manager and Jamila Powell, Program Director spoke to each graduate about using LAEDA’s resources and taking advantage of its business counseling to further their entrepreneurial careers.

LAEDA Joins First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Camden Family Festival

Camden, NJ- As part of a statewide Nurture NJ campaign, First Lady Tammy Murphy hosted a Family Festival on March 2nd at Octavius V. Catto Family School in Camden. The Camden Family Festival, which was funded by the Nicholson Foundation, was hosted in collaboration with the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers (CCHP) and featured nearly 100 participating community organizations.

Women’s Business Academy Continues to Empower South Jersey Entrepreneurs

Camden, NJ- On March 13th, LAEDA concluded the third cohort of its Women’s Business Academy (WBA). Established in 2016 in conjunction with the Women’s Business Center, this nine-week training program closely emulates the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) by partnering the students with a business counselor and collaboratively writing a business plan that will guide them to business success.

Camden, NJ- On March 29, 2019, entrepreneurs of Food Trucking 101 Program had a valuable evening learning the essentials of owning a Food Trucking business by instructor and owner of Cow and the Curd, Rob Mitchell. In this class, the entrepreneurs learned the importance of all the ingredients that go into owning a Food Trucking business. Mr. Mitchell discussed topics ranging from branding and mentorship to capturing the customer’s attention and hiring employees.

Session 83 Learns Essential Ways to Bank and Keep Finances in Order

Camden, NJ- On February 11, 2019, entrepreneurs of class 83 had their Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) class on Small Business Financing. The third unit titled, “Money, Banking, And Personal Finances” was presented by Joanna Nicasio, Vice President and Store Manager of TD Bank Camden. In this class, the entrepreneurs learned the importance of banking and money management since their financial choices can affect both their business and personal lives.

LAEDA Presents its Spanish Language Quick Start Series

Camden, NJ- As part of its continued commitment to the Latin community, LAEDA hosted the five week Quick Start Series in Spanish. The program began on January 10th with the ABC’s of Stating a Small Business at the Salvation Army KROC Center in Camden. The series continued with Business Plan I, Business Plan II, and Marketing. The last class, Credit Management, was the night to present the certificates to all the participants who attended three or more classes. Certificates were presented to 17 people who represented 16 business in the community. The participants received the information and talked about using it and business counseling to forward their endeavors.
