Camden, NJ — On Thursday, November 17, LAEDA hosted The ABC’s of Food Trucking online seminar. Attendees learned about various mobile food business models, start-up costs, legal requirements, and best practices for aspiring operators.
There has been an 8.2% increase in Food Truck businesses in the US since 2021, bringing the total number of Food Trucks to 30,156 in 2022 (IBISWorld Industry Report: Food Trucks in the US). Identifying and connecting with a target market is key to establishing a customer base in this competitive market.
“You need to create a menu that matches the concept and atmosphere you want the customer to experience,” explained Jamila Powell, MBA, Program Manager of the LAEDA Women’s Business Center.
This past Spring, the Camden City Council adopted a Food Truck ordinance, MC-5384. This ordinance gave food truck operators an opportunity to operate in certain locations in the City of Camden.
In 2023, LAEDA will be hosting Food Trucking 101 series, an intensive course to equip aspiring food truck operators with a roadmap to launch their venture. The six-week course, last offered in 2019, will cover:
- Industry Overview & Mobile Food Business Models
