Niger Ali is the CFO and co-founder of CannaGasm Wellness Group and is an alumnus of LAEDA’s Entrepreneurial Development Training Program. We had a chance to sit down with Niger to ask about his experience with entrepreneurship and LAEDA’s training programs.

(1) LAEDA: Entrepreneurship is a very challenging path to take with many different possible directions. What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

“My first step into entrepreneurship wasn’t perfectly planned. Like many unguided street ventures, it did not succeed. While my intentions were genuine, my resources and knowledge were limited by my environment. However, that early struggle sparked a deep mission within me: I wanted to build a business capable of paying people a true living wage. I wanted to create accessible, legitimate opportunities so that when times get tough, people have a safe, honest path forward.
Over the years, I worked across an incredibly diverse range of industries—from construction, logistics, and automotive to healthcare, non-profits, and trauma-informed re-entry programs. In every role, I saw clear ways to improve the workplace, whether by boosting employee morale with incentive programs, creating safer environments through suggestion boxes, or making better use of funding. However, as a non-managerial employee, I lacked the authority to implement these strategies, and like many others, I felt expendable.
I realized that to truly control my own growth and make a real impact, I had to carve my own path. That realization led to my current venture: an expansion of my skills in the medical and wellness fields. Today, as a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner (BCHHP), Sex Therapy Practitioner (CBT), and Certified Cannabis Professional, I am channeling all of those hard-earned lessons into a business that heals, empowers, and builds up the community.”

2) LAEDA: Why did you choose your industry?

“I choose to honor Whole Body Wellness or the naturopathic modality within the health and wellness industry. Motivated by the current state of global wellness especially locally. I noticed people were struggling with physical wellness mostly in part by mental health states. More people are seeking wellness guidance yet are so heavily influenced by social media and generalized information the opposite has become a problematic trend that has caused injury and death.”

(3) LAEDA: Tell me about your experience while attending WBA. What have the major takeaways been from the program? Have you had any “Ah-ha!” moments? How did the program help you?

“I graduated prior to WBA. While attending class #77, during the 9-week course I learned a phrase that has been at the core of R&D…What makes us different, better and special?”

(4) LAEDA: Tell me about your journey on the road to business start-up. What have been some of the challenges, successes, failures, etc.?

“Starting a private practice has been a long, continuous journey—a road that is still unfolding every day. CannaGasm Wellness Group officially launched on March 24, 2022, operating right out of our living room. Back then, we started as a retail distributor and wholesaler, offering hemp, cannabis, and intimacy-focused wellness products.

Through hard work and persistence, we successfully got our products onto the shelves of various retail and service locations throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. To make sure we were delivering the absolute best to our customers, we conducted rigorous, paid product and service trials until we were 100% confident in our brand partners.

Of course, pioneering in this space comes with unique obstacles. We have faced major hurdles including product availability, the complexities of international sourcing, rapidly shifting industry regulations, and finding funding sources that actually align with our core goals. Balancing the day-to-day cost of living with the overhead of business maintenance—all while navigating unpredictable global and social climates—has been a massive test of resilience. But every challenge has only made us more adaptable and determined to succeed.”

(5) LAEDA: Could you tell me a little about where your business is today?

“Today CannaGasm Wellness Group is a multi-specialty holistic wellness and intimate maintenance clinic. We offer Functional Labs, 1:1 and group wellness sessions even for community groups and corporate wellness initiatives. (6) LAEDA: Do you have any advice for future (or existing) entrepreneurs?

“My biggest piece of advice is to first identify what makes you different, better, and special—and then answer that question with absolute confidence. Do not be afraid to dig deep and go far beyond surface-level self-audits.

Real success in entrepreneurship requires a commitment to teamwork and continual learning. You must be willing to invest in quality, because “you get what you pay for.” At the same time, be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it—growth brings its own set of heavy responsibilities.

Remember that planning is never as easy as it sounds; it demands raw, and at times highly uncomfortable, honesty. You have to know your limits. Along the way, it is completely okay to have bad moments—just do not drag them out or choose to stay in them. Learn to acknowledge the setback, remember your ultimate goals, and honor every single step of the process. Do not forget to reward your hard work along the way, and always actively hone your leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Those soft skills are what will truly elevate and compliment your actual products or services.”
