Camden, NJ — LAEDA and Camden Lutheran Housing Incorporated, Inc. (CLHI) partnered to provide a 6-part series business course were micro-entrepreneurs with product-based businesses learn about how to become a professional vendor and online retailer. The class was followed by a business pitch competition, in which winners received a vendor starter kit, fully equipped to prepare them for vending season.
The Turning Your Hobby Into a Business course covered topics ranging from Product Development & Production Process and Sales Channels for the Side Hustle Business to Bookkeeping and Money, Banking, and Credit. In order to give participants a comprehensive view of marketing/ sales, production, and administration processes, each class was formulated to not only ensure that participants understood the connection between having a great product and operating a successful business but also to provide information on how to access capital.
Residents of Camden that attended at least 5 of 6 seminars qualified to participate in the Pitch Competition. Pitch participants prepared a 1-minute pitch to compete for one of 6 Vendor Starter Kits. Each Vendor Starter Kit ($500 value) includes a 10′ x 10′ pop-up tent, 6-foot folding table & 2 folding chairs, $100 gift card for branded materials, and personal hand cart & digital postage scale.
