Three Kings Celebration Brings Joy and Community Spirit to Camden

Camden, New Jersey- Mayor Carstarphen’s office and City Council President Angel Reyes hosted a vibrant Three Kings Day Celebration on January 9th at the Malandra Hall Community Center, bringing together city officials, community partners, and residents for a festive event steeped in tradition. Widely celebrated in Europe, Spain, and Latin America, Three Kings Day is a cherished tradition that includes festive gatherings, a grand feast, and the exchange of gifts. The celebration, which commemorates the visit of the three wise men to the baby Jesus, was a testament to Camden’s rich cultural history and spirit.

One of the highlights of the evening was the appearance of the three kings themselves, delighting children and adults alike. Community engagement was at the heart of this celebration, with numerous volunteers contributing their time and efforts. Special recognition goes to the Hinson family, Maritza Auston, Felix Moulier, the Parada San Juan Bautista, Miguelina Sepulveda, and Ruth Pérez for their dedication to making the event a success. The Camden Fire Department also played a role in supporting this community gathering.

The Three Kings Day celebration in Camden reflects the city’s commitment to honoring its diverse cultural heritage while fostering a sense of unity and community pride. LAEDA was proud to represent the entrepreneurial spirit of the city’s residents. Just as the star guided the Three Kings to Bethlehem, LAEDA serves as a guiding force for Camden’s economic development. By supporting local entrepreneurs and businesses, LAEDA contributes to the city’s revitalization efforts, much like how the Three Kings brought gifts and hope to the nativity scene.

This celebration not only honors a cherished tradition but also symbolizes the spirit of new beginnings – a theme central to both the Three Kings story and LAEDA’s mission. As Camden continues to grow and evolve, events like these remind us of the power of togetherness and culture in shaping a brighter future for all residents.
