Atlantic City, NJ – On September 30, 2022, the Governor’s Conference for Housing & Economic Development held its Governor’s Excellence in Housing and Economic Development Awards Presentation at the Harrah’s Resort & Casino. Nearly three hundred housing and economic development professionals from across New Jersey and the region gathered to celebrate the awardees.
Parkside Business & Community in Partnership (PBCIP) led by its CEO Bridget Phifer accepted the award for Leading Innovative Economic Development for its Retail Diversity Business Incubator Project. This project includes the substantial renovation of a vacant commercial building into a retail store housing a business incubator for Parkside and Camden resident businesses. LAEDA supported PBCIP in this effort in developing the concept and recruiting the group’s new business partners, Curate Noir. Curate Noir supports black entrepreneurs through space in its retail stores, inclusion in Curate Noir’s e-commerce site as well as technical support by Nika & Alban Corbett the store’s owner.
“LAEDA is honored to be sharing this award with PBCIP”, said Raymond Lamboy, President & CEO of LAEDA. “Working with Bridget, the PBCIP team and Nika and Alban to innovate opportunities for the Parkside community is what community economic development is all about.”
