Next Chapter Begins Our 9-Week Entrepreneurial Program Returns with Session 102

Camden, NJ – On Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, LAEDA proudly welcomed a new cohort of aspiring entrepreneurs to the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) Session 102.

This dynamic group of ten entrepreneurs selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, chosen for their drive, business potential, and commitment to growth. Over the next nine weeks, they will engage in intensive training designed to equip them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to launch and expand their ventures.

The evening kicked off with a special video message from Ray Lamboy, President & CEO of LAEDA, who shared words of encouragement and inspiration:

“One of the secrets to success is taking action. By applying and accepted into this program, you have already demonstrated a powerful success strategy—taking action. Now, take action on the opportunities LAEDA presents. We look forward to supporting you on this journey. LAEDA is excited to guide you through your next chapter and looks forward to witnessing your impact in the community and beyond.”

With strong leadership and a passion for entrepreneurship, Session 102 is officially underway!

Setting the Tone for Success
Jamila Powell, Program Director of the Women’s Business Center, and Jiao Xu, Program Manager of the Business Service Center, welcomed the new cohort with an encouraging and purpose-driven message, setting the tone for a collaborative and goal-oriented experience.

Together, they outlined course expectations and invited participants to introduce themselves and share their motivations for joining the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program.

Jiao highlighted the power of community within the program:

“Welcome, everyone. We come from different industries and different stages in business, but this room is full of potential. We are each other’s network and support system.”

Jamila followed with an empowering reminder about commitment and purpose:

“You can’t just sit here for nine weeks and learn without taking action. This program is designed to help you turn your business plan into real, actionable steps. Keep your ‘why’ close—it will carry you through the process. If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there. But when you have a plan and take clear steps, those steps become profitable for your business.”

Their words served as a powerful kickoff to a journey of growth, connection, and transformation for this inspiring group of entrepreneurs.

Words of Encouragement from the LAEDA Team Throughout the evening, the LAEDA staff shared heartfelt advice and encouragement to help set the tone for a successful journey.

They reminded participants that this is a special opportunity to bring their business dreams to life—and that they won’t be doing it alone. The room filled with messages of support, included:

“We’re here to help you grow. We love seeing our entrepreneurs thrive.”
“Stay engaged—take notes, come to class, and don’t forget to stay connected with your counselors.”
“We are with you every step of the way. Let’s build your business plan and keep moving forward.”

With a supportive team and a strong foundation, the journey ahead is filled with possibility.

Why are you here?: Meet the Students of WBA Session 101
As the evening unfolded, each student took a moment to introduce themselves and share what brought them to the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program. Their reasons were inspiring and deeply personal, each rooted in a desire to grow, learn, and take control of their future.

Some with the desire to finally start their business plan, while others were ready to fill in the missing pieces and learn the systems that drive success. A few were looking for peace of mind and clarity, while others wanted to expand, connect, and learn how to move in the right direction.

No matter their background or stage of business, each participant arrived ready to grow—and that is exactly what this journey is all about.

Words of Wisdom from a WBA Student
The session also featured Davianna Santiago, a student of WBA Session 101 and the proud owner of Gustoso Bistro, an upscale quick-service restaurant offering freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, coffee, and smoothies—along with catering services for local businesses.

A self-taught chef, Davianna shared how the Women’s Business Academy helped transform not just her business, but also her mindset as an entrepreneur.

“This program taught me so much—I wish I had known even a quarter of this before I started. It has helped me grow as a business owner and as a person. I have gained a family here at LAEDA. No one else will do it like you, so stay connected and take full advantage of the resources and knowledge this program offers.”

Her journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support and a willingness to learn, dreams can become thriving businesses.

Words of Wisdom from a WBA Graduate
The session featured an inspiring guest speaker, Nancy Ruiz, a graduate of WBA Session 99 and co-owner of C2C Education Group, LLC, a cradle-to-career organization dedicated to collaborating with schools to create customized solutions that foster meaningful success and positively impact students’ lives.

Drawing from her own entrepreneurial journey, Nancy shared the importance of community, networking, and fully engaging in the program. Your homework is your business plan and emphasized the invaluable resources LAEDA offers.

“LAEDA was one of the best decisions I made. The instructors are incredible—take notes, ask questions, and stay connected. The guidance you’ll receive here can truly help your business thrive.”

Nancy’s business, C2C Education Group, continues to make a difference in the education sector, and her message to the students was clear: Success is built on knowledge, action, and the relationships you cultivate along the way.

As the journey of Session 102 begins, these entrepreneurs are stepping into a powerful new chapter—equipped with knowledge, community, and the unwavering support of LAEDA.
