Moment with Our WBA Graduate – Shakira Davis Heads In Beds LLC

Shakira Davis A.K.A Shekinah’Glory is the owner of Heads In Beds LLC and an alumnus of The LAEDA Women’s Business Academy (WBA). Heads In Beds LLC (Division One) is a premier hospitality brand redefining the accommodation experience across the Tri-State area. Headquartered in Pennsylvania and led by CEO Shakira Davis (also known as Shekinah’Glory), the company specializes in stylish, high-quality short-term and mid-term rentals. Guided by the powerful philosophy, “We don’t just provide places to stay—we create spaces where people can rest, reconnect, and recharge,” Heads In Beds LLC transcends traditional lodging to deliver “The Royal Solution” to every guest.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Shakira to learn more about her entrepreneurial journey and her experience participating in LAEDA’s training programs.

(1) LAEDA: Entrepreneurship is a very challenging path to take with many different possible directions. What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

“For me, entrepreneurship was never just a career choice—it was a calling. After overcoming tremendous personal adversity, I realized that God had placed gifts inside of me that were never meant to stay hidden, igniting a desire to build something that created both financial freedom and opportunities to serve others. Guided by the belief that every problem has a solution, I wanted to become an active part of those answers. Through Heads In Beds LLC, I am able to combine hospitality, leadership, business, and purpose into a single, unified mission. Every guest we serve presents a new opportunity to deliver comfort, excellence, and meaningful experiences, because at the end of the day, entrepreneurship isn’t just about making money—it’s about making a lasting impact.”

(2) LAEDA: Why did you choose your industry?

“Hospitality naturally aligns with who I am, rooted in my genuine enjoyment of serving people, creating welcoming environments, and paying attention to the small details that make others feel truly valued. Short-term rentals have allowed me to channel this passion, transforming ordinary spaces into memorable experiences. At Heads In Beds LLC, we do not simply provide stylish accommodations throughout the Tri-State area—we provide peace, comfort, professionalism, and excellence. Our motto says it best: “We don’t just build houses—we build people.” Whether someone is traveling for work, relocating, celebrating, healing, or simply resting, our goal is for every guest to leave feeling refreshed. That is why we proudly call ourselves The Royal Solution.”

(3) LAEDA: Tell me about your experience while attending WBA. What have the major takeaways been from the program? Have you had any ‘Ah-ha!’ moments? How did the program help you?
“The Women’s Business Academy challenged me to move beyond passion and purpose and begin thinking strategically as a business owner. I came into the program with a vision, but I left with a stronger foundation and a clearer roadmap for building a sustainable business.

One of my biggest “Ah-ha!” moments was realizing that owning a business requires much more than having a great idea. Every assignment was intentionally designed to build another layer of the foundation.

When we developed our Business Description, I learned the importance of clearly defining not only what my company does, why it exists and whom it serves. It challenged me to articulate my mission with confidence.

The Products, Services, Pricing, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) assignment helped me understand the value of my services. Instead of simply setting prices, I learned how to price with purpose, ensuring that my business could be both competitive and profitable.

The Marketing and Location assignment shifted my perspective from simply attracting
Customers to intentionally building a brand. It helped me understand that people do not just buy services—they invest in trust, consistency, and the experience you create.

When we studied Competition, Management, and Personnel, I realized that success is not
about competing against everyone else, it is about identifying what makes my business unique. It also challenged me to think beyond working in my business to eventually building a team that can work with me and help the company grow.

One of the most eye-opening assignments was creating both a Personal Budget and
Business Budget. That exercise reminded me that healthy businesses require healthy financial habits. I learned that managing finances wisely is just as important as generating revenue.

Reviewing my Personal Credit Report, gathering Bank Statements, and organizing Tax
Documents taught me that lenders and investors are not just buying into an idea—they are
Investing in a business owner who is prepared, organized, and financially responsible.

The sessions on Business Law, Business Financing, Accounting, Taxes, Insurance, Real Estate, Negotiation, and Investment Analysis helped me understand that entrepreneurship is not simply about owning a business. It is about becoming a lifelong learner and making informed decisions that protect and grow your company.

Perhaps the greatest lesson I learned was the importance of systems. Before LAEDA, I was
focused primarily on the vision. The Academy taught me that vision without structure limits
growth. Systems, planning, financial literacy, legal compliance, and strategic partnerships are what transform a dream into a thriving enterprise.

Because of the Women’s Business Academy, I do not just see myself as someone who owns a short-term rental business. I now see myself as a CEO building a legacy.

Today, that mindset has already influenced my next step. In addition to Heads In Beds LLC, I have launched Steel Point Enterprises LLC, expanding into transportation services throughout the Tri-State area. What began as one business has grown into a broader vision—creating a seamless hospitality and transportation experience for our guests. That expansion is a direct reflection of the strategic thinking and long-term planning that the Academy helped cultivate.

The Women’s Business Academy didn’t just teach me how to write a business plan—it helped transform the way I think, lead, and build for the future.”

(4) LAEDA: Tell me about your journey on the road to business start-up. What have been some of the challenges, successes, failures, etc.?

“Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been easy. I have experienced financial challenges, unexpected setbacks, personal loss, and moments where giving up would have been the easy way out, but every obstacle ultimately became an opportunity to learn. Each challenge strengthened my resilience, sharpened my leadership, and increased my faith, making my refusal to quit one of my greatest successes. Instead of allowing adversity to define me, I chose to allow it to develop me; today, every lesson I learned helps me build a stronger business foundation. As I often, say: “Pressure didn’t break me—it prepared me.”

(5) LAEDA: Could you tell me a little about where your business is today?

“Heads In Beds LLC proudly serves the Tri-State area by offering stylish, comfortable short-term rental accommodations designed to meet the needs of business travelers, families, healthcare professionals, and guests seeking exceptional hospitality. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our vision far beyond providing beautiful places to stay; we are actively building strategic partnerships, strengthening our systems, and creating opportunities that will allow our company to scale while maintaining our signature exceptional customer service. Ultimately, our long-term vision is to become a trusted hospitality brand universally known for excellence, integrity, innovation, and service—and we’re just getting started.”

(6) LAEDA: Do you have any advice for future (or existing) entrepreneurs?

“Start before you feel ready, and don’t wait until everything is perfect, because perfection often becomes procrastination. Along the way, invest heavily in learning, find mentors, ask questions, stay teachable, and build your business systems before you actually need them. Most importantly, deeply understand your “why”—there will inevitably be days when business gets hard, but your purpose will keep you moving long after motivation fades. Success doesn’t happen overnight; it is built one decision, one relationship, one lesson, and one act of perseverance at a time, so you must believe in your vision—even before everyone else sees it.”
