Camden, NJ- On January 12th, the LAEDA Women’s Business Center (WBC) hosted its second virtual Women’s Business Academy. While the LAEDA Women’s Business Center has been providing business training and counseling for over five years, it has only offered a “virtual” version of its nine-week Women’s Business Academy twice beginning in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to ensure its continued commitment to its community of entrepreneurs, LAEDA and the Women’s Business Center staff felt it important to ensure that startups and establish businesses would not lose the momentum of starting and/ or growing their businesses even during the pandemic.
Ms. Jamila Powell, Program Manager of Women’s Business Center stated, “This is a great time for the WBC to host its 6th Women’s Business Academy. It is such a critical moment for women today since they are facing so much adversity personally and professionally due to the pandemic. Many are dealing with that adversity head on and finding the silver lining by starting or growing their business.”
The 2022 Women’s Business Academy welcomed 20 participants in a variety of industries including food service, party and event venue rental, photography, accounting and tax preparation, and auto detailing to name a few.
Over the course of the nine-week program, participants receive 72+ hours of training from industry professionals as well as business planning, business counseling, and continued technical assistance.
