LAEDA Hosts ServSafe Certification – A Long-Needed Resource for South Jersey

LAEDA Hosts ServSafe Certification – A Long-Needed Resource for South Jersey

Camden, NJ – On February 17, LAEDA proudly hosted a ServSafe Managers Certification training at our office in partnership with Imagine Impact LLC. Led by Maria Campbell of Imagine Impact and Chef Mona Wilson of It’s a Cupcake, this one-day class and exam format fills a major gap that has existed in South Jersey for years.

For too long, aspiring and established food entrepreneurs had to travel to Philadelphia to complete their ServSafe Managers Certification. Now, thanks to this partnership, business owners can access this critical credential right here in our region.

This certification is especially important for small food-based businesses, caterers, food truck operators, and restaurant owners—many of whom are LMI and minority entrepreneurs building businesses in our communities. By providing our space at no cost, LAEDA is helping remove barriers and ensure that our alumni, current clients, and community members have access to the resources they need to operate safely and legally.

We are proud to support the local food community, training and testing 12 representatives from Aunt Berta’s Kitchen, Zachary’s BBQ & Soul, The Breakfast Palace, as well as private caterers. We are happy to report that we had a 92% pass rate for this cohort.

At LAEDA, our goal is not just to help entrepreneurs launch businesses through our 9-Week Entrepreneurial Development Training Program, but to continue supporting them with the certifications, technical assistance, and counseling they need to grow and sustain their ventures.

If you are a food entrepreneur in South Jersey and need your ServSafe Certification, check out our next ServSafe session on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026. https://laeda.com/event/servsafe-manager-certification-1-day-class-test2/
