Moment with Our WBA Graduate – Yashira Cotto – Arihsay Studio LLC

Yashira Cotto is the owner of Arihsay Studio LLC and an alumna of LAEDA’s Women’s Business Academy (WBA). Arihsay Studio is a mobile, on-location beauty service dedicated to enhancing confidence through professional makeup artistry for bridal events, special occasions, fashion, TV/film production, and special effects. Founded by Yashira Cotto, the business blends creativity, artistry, and personalized experiences to help clients feel beautiful, empowered, and celebrated. Arihsay Studio is built on the belief that beauty is an evolving art form, bringing luxury and convenience directly to clients through customized services.  We had the chance to sit down with Yashira to hear about her journey in entrepreneurship and her experience with LAEDA’s training programs.

(1) LAEDA: Entrepreneurship is a very challenging path to take with many different possible directions. What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

“I decided to become an entrepreneur because I’ve always been motivated by the desire to create financial freedom, long-term stability, and a foundation for generational wealth for my future and my family. I wanted to build something of my own that reflects my passion, creativity, and vision while also giving me the opportunity to grow independently. Entrepreneurship allows me to take control of my future, pursue my purpose, and create opportunities that can positively impact both my life and the lives of others.”

(2) LAEDA: Why did you choose your industry?

“I chose the beauty industry because it gives me the opportunity to combine creativity, passion, and artistry in a meaningful way. Beauty is more than makeup to me—it’s a form of self-expression and confidence-building. I love being able to help people feel uplifted both spiritually and physically while bringing their vision to life through my work. The beauty industry also allows me to connect with people on a personal level and create experiences that make them feel empowered, beautiful, and confident in themselves.”

(3) LAEDA: Tell me about your experience while attending WBA. What have the major takeaways been from the program? Have you had any ‘Ah-ha!’ moments? How did the program help you?

“My experience attending the WBA program has been incredibly informative and eye-opening. I’m very grateful for the guidance and continued support I’ve received from my mentors throughout the program.

One of the biggest takeaways for me has been understanding the importance of having your business organized and legally established as a business owner. The program has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and it reinforced that entrepreneurship is an ongoing journey where there is always room to learn, improve, and evolve every day.”

(4) LAEDA: Tell me about your journey on the road to business start-up. What have been some of the challenges, successes, failures, etc.?

“My journey toward starting my business has had both highs and lows, just like any path in life. It has been an ongoing learning experience, and I’m constantly looking for ways to continue growing as both an artist and an entrepreneur.

Some of the challenges I’ve faced include finding ways to stay financially stable while building my business and growing my clientele with the goal of eventually opening a physical studio. Despite the challenges, I’ve also experienced growth, valuable lessons, and personal development along the way.

Through it all, I’ve learned that success takes time, consistency, and patience, and that everyone has to start somewhere.”

(5) LAEDA: Could you tell me a little about where your business is today?

“Currently, my business is becoming more polished and aligned with the vision I have for my brand. I’ve recently rebranded my marketing and strengthened my online presence to better reflect my artistry and professionalism.

I’m also preparing to launch my website, where clients will be able to view samples of my work and book customized on-location makeup services. One of the things that makes my business unique is the convenience and personalized experience I provide by traveling directly to my clients.”

(6) LAEDA: Do you have any advice for future (or existing) entrepreneurs?

“My advice for future and existing entrepreneurs is to not be afraid of failure and to understand that there is no single right or wrong way to build a business.

Every journey is different, and each challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. I believe we don’t truly lose in life—we continue learning, evolving, and improving through every experience.”
