Lavonne Nichols is the owner of Say Something Good LLC; is a powerful empowerment hub that uniquely blends holistic healing with the transformative power of music to guide individuals on their personal journeys. We had a chance to sit down with her to ask about her experience with entrepreneurship and LAEDA’s training programs.
(1) LAEDA: Entrepreneurship is a very challenging path to take with many different possible directions. What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?
The decision to become an entrepreneur stemmed from my desire to make a tangible, positive impact in the world. I have always been passionate about community work, but I realized I wanted to create something that truly reflected my values and vision. As a life coach, speaker, and recording artist, I wanted a space where I could use my voice and talents to empower others while helping them heal and transform. That’s how Say Something Good LLC was born – to empower people to rediscover their strength, live authentically, and overcome challenges.
(2) LAEDA: Why did you choose your industry?
Choosing the life coaching industry was a natural evolution from my experience in music and community engagement. Music has always been a source of healing for me and others, and I recognized that it could be a powerful tool in helping individuals through personal struggles. Over the years, people naturally started seeking guidance from me during pivotal moments in their lives, and I felt compelled to formalize my skills. As I began combining life coaching with my music career, it became clear that this blend of services—focused on empowerment, personal growth, and healing—was exactly what my community needed. My work is about using my voice and music to uplift and help people find their authentic selves.
(3) LAEDA: Tell me about your experience while attending EDTP. What have the major takeaways been from the program? Have you had any “Ah-ha!” moments? How did the program help you?
The EDTP program played a key role in shaping my business by giving me a clearer understanding of the administrative side of entrepreneurship. One major “ah-ha” moment for me was realizing just how important it is to establish systems early on. The program also helped me refine my messaging and business strategies, while connecting me to valuable resources and a supportive network that continues to fuel my growth today.
(4) LAEDA: Tell me about your journey on the road to business start-up. What have been some of the challenges, successes, failures, etc.?
Starting Say Something Good LLC was not without its hurdles. One of the major challenges was balancing my creative side—especially my music career—with the structure needed to run a business. Another challenge was figuring out how to reach the right people with my message. However, the successes have been incredibly fulfilling. I have built strong relationships with clients who have experienced real transformation, and I am proud of the partnerships that I have established with organizations that align with my values. My music and coaching have truly become a powerful combination for personal growth and empowerment.
(5) LAEDA: Could you tell me a little about where your business is today?
Today, Say Something Good LLC is thriving. I have expanded my offerings from one-on-one coaching to include workshops, speaking engagements, and events that combine empowerment and music. I have been able to reach individuals locally and globally, both through in-person events and virtual platforms. My work continues to evolve, and I am excited to see how it will grow even more in the coming years. My aim is to continue building a supportive community where people feel safe to heal, grow, and live authentically.
(6) LAEDA: Do you have any advice for future (or existing) entrepreneurs?
My advice is to stay authentic to yourself and your vision. Entrepreneurship is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding when you stay true to what you believe in. Understand your “why,” build systems to support your work, and do not be afraid to invest in your personal growth. Surround yourself with people who encourage your growth and be patient with yourself. Progress takes time, but it is always worth it in the end.
