LAEDA’s 9-Week Women’s Business Academy Session 101 Concludes, Marking the Start of New Beginnings

Camden, NJ- On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, LAEDA hosted the final class of its Women’s Business Academy Session 101. The class brought together nine highly motivated and dedicated entrepreneurs, representing a vast variety of industries including clothing and clothing accessories retailers, independent artists, writers and performers, other traveler accommodation, other personal services, promoters of performing arts, sports, and similar events without facilities, marketing consulting services, other personal services, beauty salons and mobile food services. Over the course of the nine-week program, participants received 72 + hours of training from industry professionals as well as business planning education and business counseling.

“Today we are here to celebrate the hard work, late hours, celebration of right now and what you are going to do in the future with your business plans,” declared Jamila Powell, Program Director of the LAEDA Women’s Business Center. Her words resonated with the energy and determination that filled the room. The entrepreneurs received intensive training from industry experts, comprehensive business planning education, and personalized counseling, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to thrive. “Do not put your business plans on the shelf,” Jamila added before introducing the CEO.

LAEDA’s CEO joined the celebration, offering closing remarks and officially launching these entrepreneurs on their new journey.

“Raymond Lamboy, President & Chief Executive Officer of LAEDA, delivered a powerful message to the graduating entrepreneurs: “Success in your business is directly related to your ability to lead people. Now, it’s time to apply the knowledge that you have gained here to the real world.”

He emphasized the critical role of team building, stating, ‘The foundation of your business is having a team – building that effective, growing, and supportive team.

Mr. Lamboy also acknowledged the challenges the entrepreneurs faced during the nine-week program, calling them the “known unknowns.” He emphasized that these challenges are exactly what prepare them for the road ahead.

Drawing inspiration from space exploration, he made a memorable point: “It takes 90 percent of the fuel just to get the rocket off the ground—the rest takes it to space. Commit to that, and watch your business soar.”

He wrapped up with a powerful reminder to never stop learning, recommending several must-read business books to keep the momentum going and continue growing both personally and professionally.

List of books:
● Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter
● The E Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber

Presented by Andrea and Cliff Riley, The Marriage Service Technicians, Equipping Relationships with Tools to Go the Distance.

Last night’s session at LAEDA was nothing short of inspiring! Andrea and Cliff Riley of The Marriage Service Technicians shared their powerful insights on “Expecting the Unexpected,” offering valuable tools to navigate life’s uncertainties—whether in relationships or entrepreneurship. Andrea and Cliff have been a part of our alumni family since they graduated as part of EDTP Session 82.

Andrea shared an insightful quote that truly captured the essence of their message:
“LAEDA helped me stretch and grow. With every challenge, there comes opportunity, so look for them even if they were not a part of your original plan. Remember to practice self-care. Make sure you do things that are life-giving for you, because life is always pulling you.”

Cliff added his perspective on staying focused and motivated:
“A vision board is a roadmap for us. It shows us that we did it, and it gives us direction of what we need to do next. It motivates you because it shows your successes. Just because you are used to doing things this way, does not mean you cannot do it a new way. Ask the right questions, be creative, use your resources, and think outside the box.”

Key Takeaways:
● Embrace the unknown and think outside the box.
● Be flexible, adaptable, and do whatever it takes to keep moving forward.
● Creativity and perseverance will lead the way—there is always a solution.

We also extend heartfelt congratulations to Andrea and Cliff for signing the lease for their new franchise on March 11, 2025! This milestone marks a new chapter in their journey to build generational wealth, and we look forward to watching them thrive.
