Raymond L. Lamboy, President & CEO
Mr. Lamboy has been President & CEO of LAEDA since December of 2007. As a second generation owner of Lamboy Furniture Company, a family-owned business here in the City of Camden since 1970, Mr. Lamboy brings a unique prospective to the economic development mission of LAEDA. Mr. Lamboy believes that the future of the City of Camden rests in strengthening and growing the city’s business community and empowering individuals to own their own businesses.
Mr. Lamboy holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, has been certified by Main Street New Jersey as having completed the Downtown Revitalization Institute year long training program and has attended national training conferences hosted by the National Main Street Center and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) – Urban Forums.
Annabel Soto, Office Administrator
Mrs. Soto joined LAEDA in November of 2010 as our Receptionist/Fiscal Management Clerk. In this role, Mrs. Soto was responsible for the management of LAEDA’s fiscal operations and communications. Mrs. Soto was promoted to Administrative Assistant in September of 2011. As the Administrative Assistant of the organization, Mrs. Soto coordinates the administrative functions of the organization. In her current role as the Office Administrator, she oversees day to day operations of the organization while coordinating executive and program support. As the former Procurement Manager and Special Projects coordinator for APM of Philadelphia and the Enrollment Management Coordinator for the Catholic School Partnership here in the City of Camden.
Mrs. Soto brings a wide range of administrative experience to LAEDA combined with an extensive network of relationships throughout the community to LAEDA. Mrs. Soto holds a BA in Business Administration from Pierce College and is fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
Jamila Powell, Program Director – Women’s Business Center
Ms. Powell started with LAEDA in September of 2015 as an intern responsible for our Dine Around Friday events program. In December of 2015, She joined our team as a program associate supporting the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) In March 2016, Ms. Powell became a permanent part of LAEDA’s team as our new Technical Assistance Coordinator. In this role, she supports the operations of the EDTP program and coordinates the provision of Business counseling to both in session program participants and the EDTP Alumni. She was promoted to Program Manager of the Women’s Business Center in October 2018. She provides business support, counseling and Business education through the Women’s Business Academy (WBA) providing these services in all of south jersey.
Ms. Powell holds an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers University and two Bachelor Degrees from Montclair State for Human Ecology & Business Administration. Ms. Powell is a Camden native who’s committed to working on turning the city of Camden around.
Jiao Xu, Program Manager – Business Services Center
Mr. Xu joined LAEDA in January of 2024. Before joining LAEDA, Mr. Xu served as the Foreign Students & Instructors Affairs Coordinator at Dalian University of Technology in China where he oversaw the operations of the graduate school’s Office of Foreign Affairs. Before his tenure in education, Jiao demonstrated his business acumen as the Business Development Lead at Fanglin Minerals Co., LTD, where he forged strategic partnerships and managed day-to-day operations in the supply of raw materials to various industries.
In his role as Program Manager of the LAEDA Business Services Center, together with his team, he ensures LAEDA’s business education programs prepare both new entrepreneurs and established business owners to start and grow their businesses.
Mr. Xu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish from the University of Pittsburgh. He is fluent in English and Chinese, and professionally proficient in Spanish.
Sehrish Khan, Training Coordinator – Business Services Center
Ms. Khan originally joined the LAEDA team in part time role as the Marketing Associate in June 2015 where she engaged our alumni and community through social media and outreach events. In February 2022 was promoted to Training Coordinator. In this role, Ms. Khan oversees the recruitment and enrollment of new and existing entrepreneurs into LAEDA’s various business education programs. Ms. Khan takes an inspirational approach to work with her clients by creating a positive experience pride and actively listening to their needs and identifying the best starting point for their entrepreneurial journey. Ms. Khan values making connections and helping clients see their potential.
Ms. Khan graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Business Management and a minor in Psychology. Ms. Khan is bi-lingual in Urdu and English.
Merfred Feliz, Special Programs Coordinator – Women’s Business Center
Ms. Feliz joined the LAEDA team in July 2023 as the Camden Verify Coordinator. She is responsible for recruiting and evaluating prospective businesses from the city of Camden to receive the Camden Verified status and match-makes Camden Verified businesses with sales opportunities amongst Camden’s anchor corporations and institutions. Mr. Feliz also coordinates the recruitment and enrollment of individuals in LAEDA Individual Development Account Program.
Ms. Feliz takes pride in guiding entrepreneurs in the Camden Verified process and securing procurement opportunities. Ms. Feliz brings a solid background of administrative experience to LAEDA from 10+ years in the Hospitality and Finance Industry. Ms. Feliz is fluently bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
Michelle Phillips, Program Support Coordinator
Ms. Phillips joined LAEDA in 2023 as the training facilitator for LAEDA’s Entrepreneurial Development Training Program as was promoted to Program Support Coordinator in May of 2024. Before joining LAEDA, Michelle served as the Assistant Manager and Lead Consultant at Amazing Lash Studio in Cherry Hill, NJ.
In her role as Program Support Coordinator, Ms. Phillips is responsible for promoting LAEDA’s programs and services across its five county footprint. Michelle continues to bring her “teacher’s approach” to her role facilitating LAEDA business education programs and has now stepped into instruction.
Michelle’s extensive volunteer experience with the Camden City School District to support teachers and school officials, helping create lesson plans, and providing instructional support to students. Michelle holds a certification in General Real Estate Education from The Real Estate School in Cherry Hill and has pursued studies in Communications and Elementary Education at Rowan University and Kean University, respectively.
JOIN OUR TEAM – Assistant Program Manager – Women’s Business Center
The LAEDA Women’s Business Center (LWBC), founded in 2016, further enhances LAEDA’s ability to service to women entrepreneurs who face barriers to starting and operating small businesses and accessing capital. Being the only Women’s Business Center in Southern New Jersey, the primary focus of the LWBC is to provide high quality/ high impact business training and/ or counseling to clients who desire to open and/ or expand their businesses. In addition, the center provides long-term business counseling to pre-venture, start-up, and established businesses within LAEDA’s service area.
The APM assists the WBC PM in the operation of the LAEDA Women’s Business Center. The WBC team works collaboratively with the LAEDA Business Services Center (LBSC) team to connect women business owners to the appropriate programs and resources (including training and/ or counseling) to assist them with various business development goals including business startup, job creation, accessing capital, etc.
The Assistant Program Manager must understand the issues confronting small business owners, especially women and minorities. They must have experience working with a cross-section of linguistically, ethnically, religiously and culturally diverse groups. They must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well organized and capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment.
