The sun shined brightly outside the TD Bank located on Tilton Road in Northfield; it had proven to be a lovely April evening. Inside, however, a large group of Atlantic County residents had pushed aside any desire to enjoy the weather and focused on the laying the groundwork that would pave the way for their businesses’ success.

Entrepreneurs, already-existing business owners, and people with a dream of one day owning a business gathered on April 4 for the first night of the WBC’s Jump Start seminar series. Presented by LAEDA’s newest staff member, Alex LaBant, in conjunction with TD Bank representative Parina Desai, the team provided all 25 participants with an extensive presentation ranging from how to write your business plan to tax considerations to product specialization.

People from Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic City, Pleasantville, and more had come to focus on the first session’s overarching topic, Business Basics. The seminar series was heavily marketed throughout the region, with some attendees even having heard of it on the radio. LAEDA’s partners, as well as alumni community, were instrumental in sharing the word throughout the region.

Desai, who is the Assistant Store Manager, said, “I really appreciated the time to be helpful in our community!” Registrants were quick to take advantage of her special knowledge of business loans, and next week will have the opportunity to learn about Credit Management for Entrepreneurs from another TD expert.

The LAEDA WBC Jump Start Series is a 5 part series that provides a great opportunity for individuals who wish to learn how to start a business and for more experienced business owners wishing to learn best practices in operating a business. This event is free but you will need to register. For more information visit our calendar of events to see the balance topics the seminars will cover.

LAEDA Women's Business Center is funded in part though a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
