Camden, NJ- On September 19, 2018, Rowan University hosted the Camden Works Summit on Jobs & Career Training. This event was a part of the Camden Working initiative organized by City Hall and Congressman Donald Norcross to provide Camden City residents with firsthand information about education, programs, health and labor market opportunities in the city.

Another part of this initiative includes the city’s educational system helping students gain experience in various fields of study which will eventually allow them to put their knowledge to work in the city of Camden.  LAEDA was on site as a participant providing information about the different business training and counseling services offered in the South Jersey region.  “This event was a perfect opportunity to reach people who are looking for business education and may not have had previous knowledge of the services LAEDA offers in the different cities and counties of New Jersey,” stated Alejandro Cruz, EDTP Assistant Program Manager.

The Camden Works Summit also allowed LAEDA to connect with other organizations in order to reach potential students and provide them with more information about various programs ranging from housing to credit. This allowed them to benefit from the shared information and resources that many organizations have.

In addition, the summit provided a firsthand view of City Hall’s new policies to integrate training and work opportunities in the city. LAEDA will continue to do its part by contributing to the revitalization of the city and  economic empowerment of its residents.
