Camden, NJ- On Saturday, September 25th the LAEDA Women’s Business Center (WBC) attended the 14th annual Haddon Avenue Street Festival hosted by Parkside Business & Community in Partnership (PBCIP). The Haddon Avenue commercial corridor, between Kaighns Avenue and Mechanic Street, was lined with over 35 vendors offering not only shopping, food, and entertainment but also health and wellness screenings, presentations, and small business resources. There was even a section where families and children could enjoy games "life-sized" checkers, Connect 4, Jenga and a Pokemon tournament from Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) Alumni David Barnes of Prodigy Games.

While entertainers like Mir Fontaine, RoBB, Mary Cross, Tena Riley and hip hop artist Chubb Rock offered musical entertainment, LAEDA WBC’s Program Manager Jamila Powell was most excited to see all of alumni from the LAEDA’s Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) and Women’s Business Academy (WBA).  Ms. Powell expressed her excitement of seeing all the program alumni, “It’s always a pleasure seeing our (LAEDA) clients out doing what they love and promoting their products/ services. That means that they are implementing all the things we spoke about when they attended EDTP or WBA!”

The nine-program alumni included both previous and recent graduates:

  • Angela Turner of Angela Ashley (session 78) supported the entrepreneurial spirit of her son who is child author and the creativity of her daughter who performed with I Dare to Care dance team
