Valerie Stancill opened Cloud 9 Wellness almost a year ago after working at a franchise massage establishment for many years. "It wasn't a good fit. I couldn't do what I wanted which was dedicate time to my patients," by she explained. Now that she is under her own roof, Stancill makes sure that her clients receive her full attention.

When a client comes in for a 60-minute massage, Stancill said that dock does not start until she starts the massage. She gives them time to change that does not count toward massage time and talks to each client about what problems they might be having and stretches or other things that might help them. "That's my vision - to continue massage and empower and inspire clients with our services and to teach them how to take care of themselves," she explained.

Cloud 9 Wellness offers "pretty much everything in the massage world," said Stancill, including massage therapy, hot stone massages, health coaching, reiki and even yoni steaming. They also sell holistic products like organic soaps, sports and detox drinks and essential oils.

"It's really taken off. We're so busy," she explained. She already had to hire two more people to help manage their client needs and they will be hiring a receptionist soon, too.

As the business grows, Stancill , has taken on more administrative work. "I really like doing the administrative stuff. I like to see our success. This is my baby. I want to see it prosper," she said.

Something that helped contribute to Cloud 9' s early success was an entrepreneurship course Stancill took through the non-profit Latin American Economic Development Association. "The program was so awesome and free," she explained. "I tell people about it all the time." If she had not taken the course, Stancill said she would not have known how to market her business, pick the right location or how to build a team. "They taught me so many things. I got everything I needed to start my business," she said.

Stancill said Retrospect readers who mention seeing this article can get 20 percent off a full-service massage at Cloud 9 Wellness though it cannot to be combined with any other offer. Cloud 9 Wellness is located at 614 Collingswood Ave. in Collingswood. For more information, call 856-425-0167 or visit facebook.com I doud9wellnessnj.
