Diana Larisgoitia is the owner and CEO of Buenos Aires Counseling Center. At Buenos Aires Counseling Center implements effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. She is also a graduate of LAEDA’s Entrepreneurial Development Training Program. We had a chance to sit down with Diana Larisgoitia to ask about her experience with entrepreneurship and LAEDA's training program.

(1) LAEDA: Entrepreneurship is a very challenging path to take with many different possible directions. What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

I am an independent worker and would like to enjoy the freedom of accommodating my own schedule as well as  working with a variety of clients.

(2) LAEDA: Why did you choose your industry?

I wanted to be a psychologist since childhood due to issues of illness in my family of origin.

(3) LAEDA: Tell me about your experience while attending EDTP. What have the major takeaways been from the program? Have you had any “Ah-ha!” moments? How did the program help you?

The program helped by giving to me an overview of the items that I needed to address or be aware of with regards to organizing my own business. It also allowed me to view the particulars of the mental health services from a financial perspective.

(4) LAEDA: Tell me about your journey on the road to business start-up. What have been some of the challenges, successes, failures, etc.?

The challenge is simultaneously trying to organize a new business while working full time for other providers in order to have enough income to support myself.

(5) LAEDA: Could you tell me a little about where your business is today?

I have become well known by several lawyers in Pennslyvania, New Jersey, New York, and surrounding counties because I am a bilingual professional and can communicate with the clients in their native language.

(6) LAEDA: Do you have any advice for future (or existing) entrepreneurs?

Get trained and get going. It is a wonderful and rewarding experience.
