LAEDA’s EDTP Quick Start Series en Español Kicks off in Bridgeton, NJ

The Latin American Economic Development Association, Inc. successfully kicked off its business education series, Entrepreneurial Development Training Program – Quick Start Series en Español last night at the Ashley McCormick Arts Center in downtown Bridgeton, NJ.

With more than 25 existing and prospective business owners in attendance, Gabriela Sanchez, LAEDA’s Coordinator of Technical Assistance and lead instructor of the workshop series, led the participants through LAEDA’s ABC’s of Starting a Small Business Seminar.  “Like a child who is just learning the basics of the alphabet, A-B-C, the goal of this seminar is to give you an overview of the business startup process”, Ms. Sanchez explained. Represented in the group of participants were restaurant owners, janitorial cleaning companies, landscaping firms and many more.

Mayor Albert Kelly, Mayor of Bridgeton and Kevin Rabago the Director of Development and Planning of Bridgeton were on hand to greet the business owners and express their support for their success.  “Business is important to Bridgeton, especially the Latino business community, we look forward to working with you and wish you the greatest of success”, said Mayor Kelly.  Through the local Urban Enterprise Zone program, Mayor Kelly and Kevin Rabago offered their support of $1,000 as a venue sponsor.

The EDTP Quick Start Series is a series of 5 workshops; ABC’s of Starting a Small Business, Creating a Plan of Action – Business Planning I & II, Getting the Word Out – Marketing 101 and Credit Management for Entrepreneurs.  She explained that all the workshops in the series are taught in Spanish with all materials in the Spanish language.

Those Latinos who own an existing business or who wish to start one are encouraged to attend the series, which is being hosted in Bridgeton, NJ at the Ashley McCormick Arts Center - 40 E. Commerce Street.  The series will continue on March 26 with Business Plan I, April 2, April 9 and April 16.  The seminars are free but interested individuals must register by calling 856-338-1177.
